THE RIDDLER’S SEASON’S OVER

The 7-4 Phoenix fell short of making the Division I-AA Football Subdivision playoffs, but Scott Riddle (Ramseur, N.C./Eastern Randolph High School) was declared a unanimous selection as the Southern Confrence Freshman of the Year on Tuesday afternoon.

The 6-0, 201-pound Riddle finished his rookie campaign with a 68.1 completion percentage, connecting on 346 of his 508 passes with 13 interceptions for 3,817 yards and 31 touchdowns. He also ran for nine touchdowns. The three-time SoCon Offensive Player of the Week and three-time SoCon Freshman of the Week also earned National Player of the Week status once and SoCon Athlete of the Month distinction once.
