Matt Ryan did it again. This time he looked like an average D1 QB for three quarters before pulling out another victory that put the Eagles in the ACC championship game. Bust out the Dr. Pepper.

Ryan threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Rich Gunnell with 1:46 to go, lifting the Eagles (No. 17 BCs, No. 18 AP) to a 20-17 victory over No. 15 Clemson on Saturday night.

The Tigers (8-3, 5-3) had taken a 17-13 lead on Cullen Harper's 4-yard touchdown run with 5:28 remaining. But as Virginia Tech found out last month when Ryan tossed two touchdowns in the final 2:11 to beat the Hokies 14-10, the Eagles (9-2, 5-2) can't be counted out as long as their senior quarterback has a chance.

Also, like the Tech game, Clemson seemed to have BC’s number until the fourth quarter.

Unfortunately, for the Tigers, their QB Cullen Harper made the one mistake you can’t make when driving to set up a field goal to tie – he took a sack. That made the last ditch attempt from 52 yards just a bit too long…

UNI ALERT: Evidently, the boys in the equipment room eased over to the Pickens County Auto Zone and picked up some spray paint. They chose what motor heads call “metal flake,” and they went to town on the Tiger’s helmets. Better revert to the old style (left) that worked when they crushed Wake Forest the week prior.
