!Shocking!!!North Carolina will begin the 2007-2008 season as the #1 team in the seasons' first ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll. The Tar Heels eeked by #2 UCLA by just five votes ... and actually earned less first place votes [10 to 12] than the Bruins. Memphis, Kansas and Georgetown, who beat UNC in the Elite 8 last year, round out the top five.
Duke re-enters the poll at #11 after going unranked at the end of last season.
NC State comes in at #24. Clemson [#29], Virginia [#43] and Maryland [#52] also received votes.
