ALMOST TOO STUPID TO BE BELIEVED

Morning talk show radio host Don Imus clearly went temporarily insane late last week. What other reason could the long-time media veteran have for being so stupid? Following Tennessee’s victory in the women’s Final Four over Rutgers, Imus called the Rutgers squad “nappy-headed hos.” If that seems unbelievable, it should. Unfortunately, it’s true. Perhaps they were trying to be funny?

Only there was nothing funny about Imus and his executive producer Bernard McGuirk taking turns calling the Rutgers women's basketball players "hos" on Imus' Thursday morning show. McGuirk called them "hardcore hos," but Imus corrected him, calling the Scarlet Knights "nappy-headed hos." Then sports announcer Sid Rosenberg joined in the fun and said the Rutgers team looked exactly like the Toronto Raptors – which, all things considered, was derogatory, but not racist.

Now let’s be frank: 1) A guy like Imus should know better, and 2) Have you seen him? He’s got no business commenting on how anybody looks. He’s a mess. But wait, there’s more: McGuirk kept things rolling by comparing the women's national championship game between Rutgers and Tennessee to the "Jigaboos vs. the Wannabees," which is in reference to a scene in Spike Lee's 1988 film "School Daze." Obviously, these knuckleheads are not familiar with the phrase “Quit while you’re behind.”

Friday morning, Imus apologized for the comments saying, "It was completely inappropriate, and we can understand why people were offended. Our characterization was thoughtless and stupid, and we are sorry." Needless to say, various groups are still calling for Imus’ head and job.

Duh.
